Mittelwald

The last strip of German land before going to Austria houses this wonderful city, venerated for its frescoed houses adorning the streets of the charming old town.

Mittenwald is located at the foot of the Karwendel mountain range and not far away from the famous winter sport resort of Garmisch. It is also famous for having imported from Italy and boosted the ancient art of violin making. In the city center is definitely deserved a visit to the baroque church of St Peter und Paul built in the middle of 1700 and rich in paintings, both inside and outside

Of great interest is also the museum of violin making that hosts around 200 musical instruments out of the hands of local artists.

A ski lift leads to 2244 meters above sea level and from here the view extends from the town to the mountain lakes.

During the winter the surroundings become important slopes of recreation and training for cross country skiing lovers.
